The Center for Stabilization and Reconstruction Studies (CSRS) is offering this session on security sector reform.

Using the same problem as the Vienna competition, and with substantially identical rules, the Vis (East) gives law students the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong to compete, on a date just before or after the Vienna orals. The Vis (East) is not a regional elimination prior to the Vienna orals, but a separate competition. Any law school may enter teams in either the Vienna competition or the Hong Kong competition, or both. There will be a winning Vis team in Vienna, as always, plus a winning Vis (East) team in Hong Kong.

The seminar will deal with recent developments in European environmental law, primarily by analysing the European Court of Justice's recent case law and the activities of the other EU institutions in the field of environmental law. The seminar will offer an overview of the political and legal contexts of current discussions and of the challenges surrounding pricing and reimbursement of medicines at national, European and international levels. An analysis will be offered of the different price systems in Europe, their advantages and weaknesses, as well as strategies put in place by pharmaceutical companies. One of the most significant outcomes of the World Summit on Information Society of 2005 was the creation of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF). Its main purpose is to discuss a wide range of issues related to Internet governance, and, where appropriate, to make recommendations to the international community.

The Center for Stabilization and Reconstruction Studies (CSRS) is offering this session on combatting corruption.

The purpose of the conference is to shed light on aspects of international commercial arbitration that are particularly relevant to Latin American cases. Conducted under the auspices of the International Court of Arbitration.

During this 51st UIA Congress, the Union Internationale des Avocats (International Association of Lawyers – UIA) will be celebrating 80 years of its existence. The Congress will focus on three themes: criminal procedure at the crossroads; corporate governance; and women’s rights.

Vint Cerf, co-founder of the Internet, will step down as chairman after eight years spearheading the organisation. ICANN will showcase the changes it has made in the past year in an effort to pull the Internet community closer together and working together for the future of the network. Preregistration for an ICANN meeting is voluntary and free. This meeting is open to the public.

This seminar will assess the EU's counter-terrorism legislation in the field of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters, focusing especially on their practical implications. The ISIL in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will host the annual regional round Moot Court Competition. The competition is held in memory of Henry Dunant, the founder of the ICRC.

The International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences will select 50 participants who currently hold a law degree, and have graduated in the last eight years (between 1999-2007) for this course.

This course aims at examining the current state of fundamental rights protection within the Union, the existing legal instruments and actors, including the European Court of Human Rights, as well as their interaction. The current challenges for fundamental rights protection within the Union, especially within the Third Pillar and in the wake of a Constitutional Treaty, will also be addressed. The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center’s domain name dispute resolution service gives effect to the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) at the recommendation of WIPO. The Advanced Workshop will focus mainly on the trends of UDRP decisions with regard to the most important substantive and procedural issues.

The purpose of this Workshop is to provide intensive basic training of a practical nature for party representatives in arbitration and for arbitrators. The format of the Workshop will consist of presentations by the instructors, practical exercises supervised by the instructors and discussion between participants and instructors. At this year's annual conference, three showcase sessions will be presented. The Public and Professional Interest Division will examine the value of awareness of cultural differences to lawyers working cross-jurisdictionally. The Human Rights Institute will highlight some of the key developments in the global struggle against corruption.
